Such Terrible News this Morning! My Heart goes out to the Friends and Families of the Victims!
However, I am so proud of the way that the ordinary people of Manchester responded! The way that they left the safety of there homes, and went to help!

Everyone is the unacceptable other to someone.
People who are not content with their lives often feel the need to hate someone. . I see this nearly every day. . But to hate THAT much also takes a sick mind.
I feel so sorry for those victims and their families.
Just another waste of lives.

Desperately sad for the families ripped apart by this cowardly act of horror, and desperately sad for us brits that it has taken place in our own backyard. It also brings it home that peoples in other parts of the world live with this sort of cowardice, preying on weakness and innocence because they are easy targets, on an almost daily basis. What have we become that some among us can use the lives of our children in this way??

It struck home to me Opti last night, as I have family in Manchester, who are the lucky ones not to have been killed by terrorists. I am frightened of the danger they are in though and we feel quite helpless as to where in this world that one can live peaceably with all races and religions. I pray that no more will happen.

so it was terrorists? last night they weren't sure here.

I can think of no words dear friend. this is our world now...this senseless idiotic killing of people who have nothing to do with the issue the terrorists are claiming to battle. a one off by a thief in the night.

there is no way to stop this...this is not an army. this is a mindset.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

The problem I have getting my head round all of this is that I just cannot understand the mentality of a suicide bomber wanting to kill innocent children to punish an opposing culture.

Theoretically I get it. You're a committed religious fundamentalist, you see all kinds of injustices being perpetrated on you and people like you. You are possibly proud of who you are, your beliefs and your origins. You come under the influence of nasty people who pervert your sense of injustice and who know (though they won't bring themselves to do it themselves) that terrorism is the way to hit those soft westerners - and what better form of terror than killing innocents?

Do it... and go to heaven!

It isn't difficult to grasp that theoretically. But surely no sane person could get in a crowd of children and detonate themselves? It is beyond my powers of understanding to see how you could stand there amongst innocents and decide to explode yourself slaughtering so many...

You'd have to be a nutter!

And I think that's the key. The world is full of nutters. Mainly they are unnoticeable because they have no means to direct their lunacy, no coherent plan that would culminate in mass murder. The problem is that the preachers of hate (who, unlike their minions, live to a ripe old age) prey on the weak, the vulnerable, the helpless and frustrated, the mentally unstable... the kind of person that with a bit of persuasion might think it would be great to be a suicide bomber.

There's nothing uniquely Muslim about it either. You could argue that Hitler did it on a national scale. The IRA were no better - though they didn't go in for suicide.

I don't see it as anything that is ever going to go away. The world is too big, 99.9999999% of people are nobodies - and this frightens many people who see no purpose to their lives. You are a pawn is somebody else's game, nameless, disposable, of no consequence. Nihilism at its finest

Confronted with this most people think "I'll go down the pub and have some fun with my mates". Mad men think "I'll make a name for myself blowing up children".
